As requested by Ms. Jessica's Students (but useful for everyone)

Connectors instead of "because"
🎮    As: "He chose not to see that movie, as it had gotten poor reviews." Instead of: "He chose not to see that movie because it had gotten poor reviews."
🎮    As a result of: Substitutes "because of": "He could not play football as a result of his broken leg." Instead of: "He could not play football because of his broken leg."
🎮    Due: Substitutes "because of": "He could not play football due to his broken leg." // "Due to the fact": "He could not play football due to the fact he had broken his leg."
🎮    Since: More informal than "because", but has the same meaning: "She didn't want to go since she had a lot of homework." Instead of: "She didn't want to go because she had a lot of homework."

Preparation for oral exam

Hi guys! You may be asking yourselves: "How can I get prepared for my oral exam?" And here are some tips:
  • Rehearse the vocabulary words we have seen until now, you should be able to incorporate them into your speech and your answer of the oral exam.
  • Practice grammatical structures that we have seen, as well as the basic ones you already know. These will be necessary to have a good grade on your oral evaluation.
  • Practice pronunciation by listening english programs, try to repeat the words and phrases you are hearing; on this technique you improve your pronunciation by imitation.
  • Practice oral development and self confidence: set a random situation and try to solve it yourself in front of the mirror, take control of your volume, non-verbal language, diction, eye contact, fluency, etc.
